God was with adam until he betrayed. Thus taking away the spirit given to him. God has been trying for 6,000 years to come to his people. revelation is the finality of God's plan where his people are one with him in spirit and flesh.
It reminds me of the verse in 1 Co 15:28 "When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all." We will work until God is all in all.
